ABOUT Social inclusion

2,500 people A small survey carried out by APESEK in the community of Kivumu on child labor to better understand the situation of working children established that orphaned children work 3 times more than non-orphans in agriculture, small commercial, in as servants, and street vendors. It is important to point out that through these rapid assessments, it turned out that most of the working children are orphans.

Children with disabilities can benefit from inclusive education: certain school infrastructures are designed to make places accessible to students. However, many children have difficulty getting to school because the roads are not accessible. In addition, few educational materials are adapted to Children with disabilities.

According to the information collected in 1259 children with disabilities are enrolled in primary school (560 girls and 699 boys) and 244 children with disabilities are enrolled in secondary school (107 girls and 137 boys). However, the statistics of all children with disabilities in school age are not available. Some schools have set upx either a forum for teachers and parents, or a student support club, with the aim of improving the integration of children with disabilities into the family and school environment. The distribution of teachers and principals trained in inclusive education remains unequal between sectors and schools in the district.

Our interventions are based on the donation of wheelchairs, rehabilitation of homeless houses, legal advice and family mediation for teenagers, giving dignity to orphaned children and children from vulnerable poor families and social integration/reintegration of drug addicts, street children and juvenile delinquents.
